But I am not sure whether trivializing the act, as a part of speech, would be helpful in getting rid of the stigma. It is basically lack of respect for the other person which leads to such acts, be it physically or on the virtual world.neeti - unpluggedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16799466222568650589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3538852183968362917.post-38736402602343882712011-03-17T18:16:06.352+00:002011-03-17T18:16:06.352+00:00This comment has been removed by the author.neeti - unpluggedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16799466222568650589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3538852183968362917.post-75215494626284463262010-11-28T21:33:35.287+00:002010-11-28T21:33:35.287+00:00Hi there! Thank you so much for your comment, I really appreciate it!

I am also not quite comfortable with this type of usage of the word 'rape', so I agree with you there. And yes, as I said in the post, rape is not a crime like any other crime, it should carry a different weightage but that weightage shouldn't weigh down the victim with it.Asiyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05382279490921613364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3538852183968362917.post-20890849957259871722010-11-28T21:25:26.851+00:002010-11-28T21:25:26.851+00:00When I hear people talking about about wanting to ...When I hear people talking about about wanting to rape someone (I hear it more in a non-facebook context, but in a similar joking manner), I flinch every time. I personally don't think that a more common usage of the term makes the occurence of rape any less stigmatised and actually wish the word still carried as much weight as it used to.

Great blog Asiya!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
